Max Hoffman was a European automobile importer for whom Wright designed a house and a building for his Jaguar dealership in New York City. The carpet design proposed for the living room of the Hoffman home featured floating, intersecting circles with square accents, which would create a cheerful atmosphere. Although the rug was not executed for that home in 1957, after Wright’s death it was woven for his own living room at Taliesin, Spring Green, Wisconsin.
